Wow, what an event...
A massive thanks to Supanova for putting on a solid show. It was one of those rare moments in my life where things went well... right. One thing after another, all things went good.
Not being locally in Perth, I took in the sights. My first day in Perth I toured the comic stores with my cousin Mark during his lunch break. In one store I bumped into Ben Templesmith! He didn't remember me at first though, but when I mentioned he did that X-23 vs Deathstrike commission, he remembered!
Well, that was the Thursday. On Friday, I wandered the streets of Perth, hopping from store to store buying up some stuff, when in a store called Tokyo Underground I bumped into Tiffany Grant! English voice for ASUKA from Evangelion!
Ok, I didn't take a pic of her when I saw her in the store That would be too creepy. But she remembered me from my Melbourne leg. I'm no stalker! Really! The shot above was from Melbourne.
Taking the train to Showgrounds, I forgot that the Perth trains you need to push the magic "open door" button, so I missed my stop. Had to backtrack. Yeah, Perth, your trains are weird with your "button to open door" thing! Upon arrival, I ended up at the back gates of Supanova. Met up with my old friend Michael as we tried to get security to let us in.
Also met up with the guys from the Ozformers board, Fraser, Bill and Kyle. It started to rain, pretty heavy then! So we rushed in. It was onward to the opening ceremony where they introduced the voice actors and the cast of "I Dream of Jeannie".
At the charity auction, Tiffany Grant opened the show, and said she met a few of us during her walk through town. She called me by name, so I was honoured, and scared at the same time. All those stares.. Anyway, my eyes instantly lit up when the voice actors said any auction that wins over $100 gets a personalised phone message! So I decided to bid big on this voice box item, with both Asuka voices actresses saying "Are you stupid" in english and Japanese. Problem was the auction was going to end at $80! So I bidded against myself to get it to $100! I got an ovation for that LOL. Oh... but was it worth it. I love this voice box...
Now I needed to get the voice actress to do my voicemail, but they all left for the evening after the auction and I was told by Supanova staff that I needed to come back next day and get them to do my voicemail during their signing... so well, after grabbing some autograph and photo tokens for the Whedon stars, I went home satisfied.
